No, you can't smoke pot in Vancouver..... not legally.
But the cops have bigger fish to fry so if they atch you with a doobie, they'll more than likely confiscate it or ask you to stub it out and then you'll be on your merry way.
I don't smoke the sit so I'm not 100% clear on it but it's not
legal
.... it's just.... accepted.

That's interesting. I was walking down Hastings Street (?) a few blocks from the steam clock, when a huge wafte of pot smoke stopped me dead in my tracks. It came out of this dark little bar/coffee shop. I debated going in but decided against it because, well, I didn't want to reek like pot smoke going back across the border (I was just visiting for the day from Semiahmoo). A few doors down I stopped by a head shop and walked in on the two people working there preparing to roll a joint - right there on the counter! So, I figured it must be legal.
And I must move there.

I know the area you are speaking of. The cops know about those cafes and dn't care because they're not blatantly selling seeds and/or sticky to the public. The Da Kine Cafe was a different story. (If you google Da Kine Cafe Vancouver, you will find out, if you don't already know what I mean) Carol Gwilt was openly and blatantly selling seeds and sticky out of her cafe, was told to stop repeatedly and flouted the law.
I don't know where her case stands now but when you are stupid like that, there are consequences.
Carol, there is a difference between possession and trafficking.
